My Favorite Time of Year

It's starting to look and feel like Fall out there!  One of my favorite things about New England is how it looks in the Fall.  Living in Connecticut my whole life, I have had the privilege of seeing many beautiful fall seasons.  Fall is cozy for me.  Crisp air, and hooded sweatshirts is my kind of thing.  So many amazing things happen in the Fall.  Like, fairs, and pumpkin picking, and Halloween, and I even met my husband in the Fall--- at a fair!

I cannot believe it has been 90 days since our wedding!  I just recently got most of our professional wedding photos back and they are absolutely stunning!  I cannot wait to make albums.  I a little bit of a picture fanatic.  Our apartment is not nearly big enough for all the photos that I would love to hang on the walls.  That is when I decided to come up with this fancy DIY project..
I used an old frame, and the Hubs helped me staple three wires to either end with a staple gun!  Then, I just hung up some 4x6's of our wedding day.  I bought tiny glittery clothes pins for $2 at Michaels, which made it look even nicer!

Here are some professional shots from the wedding,

These are just the prep photos of before the ceremony.  More to come later!

Is it Friday yet?

It sure has been a long week.  Seeing as though I had Monday (Labor Day) off from work, and it being only a 4 day sure has been long!  Tomorrow is Friday, yet it still seems so far away!

My husband made Jambalaya tonight.  It was amazing!

Thank goodness for his cooking skills!  I had such a migraine after coming home from work.  It's nice to have a husband who doesn't mind cooking and is pretty good at it too!

We ate in front of the TV tonight, as much as I despise doing that at times.  We watched some of the VMAs until we couldn't take it anymore.  The VMAs just aren't what they used to be when we were younger.

We went out for ice cream, which I of course am now regretting.  Ice cream sure works wonders though now that my headache is gone!

This was a short and boring post!  More tomorrow.. FRIDAY!

Hiking up Talcott Mountain

Being a 3 day weekend this weekend, my adventurous husband and I decided we would go on a hike that we've never been on before while the weather in Connecticut is still nice.  We both googled different places and I found Talcott Mountain in Simsbury.  The hubs was intrigued, so we got ready, got in the car and went.

Earlier that day, we had gotten up and went along with our usual morning routine... a cardio workout, and an ab workout...along with a 40 minute walk around the neighborhood.  Perhaps that wasn't such a good idea because that hike that we took was no joke!

The views from the top of Talcott Mountain are breathtaking.  I was very happy walking around at the top and looking off of the rock ledge.  We had no idea where the tower was, but decided to follow everyone else, who seemed to know where they were going.  It was another 2 miles before reaching the tower.  Most of this part of the hike was uphill as well, but not as steep.  The last 1/2 mile before getting to the tower gets pretty steep though, and by the time you get to the tower, you want to just drop dead.  Thank goodness for the nice breeze, because it was in the 90s.

I was so happy to make it to the tower, that I didn't even mind the long flight of stairs that you need to walk up to walk into the front doors.  Then of course there was no elevator.  Duh! What had I been thinking?!  We had to climb 8 very steep flights of stairs to the top of the tower for even more breathtakingly beautiful views!  I guess at the end of the day, it was worth it.

The car ride back is my favorite.  Because even though I was absolutely drenched in sweat, even though my ankles were covered in dirt kicked up from the trail, even though I was breathing heavy, my heart was pounding, my legs were hurting in places I have never felt pain before.... I was proud.  Hiking gives me such a feeling of accomplishment.  I love it!

Life with no direction!

Here we go!  The beginning of my third blog.  Today starts the beginning of new topics to talk about as I endure new challenges, new beginnings, new hopes and dreams, new struggles and maybe even some set backs.

A little back story:  My first blog was back in college.  It was a homework assignment of sorts to create your own blog and write in it everyday about whatever you wanted.  (I was an English major).  The blog started out as something that HAD to be done, but by the time the assignment was up and the next semester had already begun, I found that I was still writing in my blog.  It was a blog that eventually kept me really faithful to my weight loss and I lost 40lbs!  I didn't only lose however... I ended up gaining a group of really awesome, fellow-blog-loving friends-- some of whom I am still friends with today on Facebook.  Being a dancer for 20 years, I also would post my dreams of losing the 40lbs and becoming a Radio City Rockette... the ultimate dancer dream.  I tried out, and posted my experiences on the blog.

From what at first started as a simple homework assignment, turned into another way of expressing myself, a way of staying loyal to losing weight, and a way of gaining advice by others who were looking to stay in shape and get healthy.

After blogging for almost 2 years, I ended up meeting a man that I am now married too.  We had a 2 year engagement in which I started my second blog, "Something Blogged, Something Blue", in which my intent was to blog about all things wedding until my big day.  I was not as much faithful to that one as I thought I would be.... I guess I was too busy finishing up my college degrees and planning a wedding!

Now it's blog #3.  This is kind of just my life in a blog.  It's not going to have any real sense of direction.  I'll blog about all kinds of things.  My husband and I are lovers of all things hiking, healthy foods, eating out, books, adventure, ice cream, and DIY projects.

Hold on to your hats!
